On telneting to either port 110 or 143 the
session connects and the effectively hangs displaying nothing indefinately

sasldblistuser command correctly lists users

Cyrus IMAP 2.x runs as a daemon and NOT though Inetd (or Xinetd).
I made exactly the same mistake The best advice is to read the docs
that come with the
tarball rather than the HowTo docs cause they're out of date.

I assume Outlook Express automatically creates
these new folders when I log into a new account my other server running UW
IMAP. It can't with Cyrus IMAP however as you cannot
create new folders at the same level as Inbox
..
Any ideas ?

and check the file the removed entries are still there so clear this is not
working.
I suspect that somewhere the command used has changed and is possibly
ctl_cyrusdb or similar now but need some advise.
