We are going to pilot allowing Skype on student/teacher laptops, but
something is getting blocked. Do any of you guys know what URLs and
ports that Skype uses?

You should just have to unblock www.skype.com. That is all I did with
Lightspeed.

There appears to be more to it than that. Students can get to
Skype.com but cannot log into the skype application. I think that the
authentication process redirects to another domain, but I can't verify
this.

Find a computer that has been blocked. Enter its name in the search window
(Reports-Content filter-Blocked Content), then have them try again, then right
click on Block Content (in the left column) and refresh it. Hopefully it will

I am 100% sure the 8e6 box is causing the issue, but the 8e6 is just
doing content filtering and has no firewall rules so no ports are
being blocked at that level. What I am trying to trackdown is... when
Skype authenticates does it only talk with a Skype.com domain or is it
something
A while back we blocked skype through the Cisco router. If you have Cisco,
there could be in the Config... just a thought.
