Ok, I guess Spring Break can't come fast enough..
I am officially an idiot. The issue was I grabbed my XPSp2 that was
for an HP computer that had to work together with a Restore Plus disk
NOT my XPSP2 Install CD. As soon as I got the right media, all was
well. Sorry.

I was able to hold down the f10 key and then boot to the live ubuntu cd.
Maybe I just got lucky and mine came clean.
