I've been looking into this too, and I think I can do everything I need to with
group policy. I've been looking at the Software Restriction Policies so only
approved exe's will run.

In Humboldt we use Clean Slate from Fortres Grande. I'm sure there are probably
better ones out there but it was here when I came 3 years ago and it has served
us well.
