[Inkscape-docs] more on writing extensions

2015-11-06 Thread Brynn
Hi Friends (Maren, Martin), I've been wondering whether it might be a good idea to have a link to the guide to writing extensions, which recently was mentioned in a message on the dev list (https://medium.com/@xaviju/inkscape-extensions-by-non-developers-for-non-developers-a-primer-b272d

Hi Brynn, What would be a really good outreach is if you contact the author of the medium.com article and ask him if he'd like to improve the inkscape.org extension guide with the information he's written on his blog. that way we don't have to link to something that might disapear for information

That sounds reasonable to me. From what I recall of his message on the list, it seems like he might be interested. However, I've just rediscovered another guide that I knew about a long time ago, but had forgotten about. http://sugarpillstudios.com/wp/?p=142 So now with 3 potentially helpful,

Thanks for offering to help, Xavi :) Would dual-licencing (CC-By-SA and GPLv3+) be okay for you? That's the licence for our website contents (not yet mentioned there). If you'd like to learn how to edit the website, make an account at staging.inkscape.org, and tell us your user name. Instruction

Oh yeah, that's awesome, Xavi! If you decide to work on the staging site (and then later the live site), I'll be available to answer questions or help if you need it. The django editor is fairly easy to use. (I can use most of it, and I could not write an extension, so it really isn't hard to

[Inkscape-docs] old staging pages

2015-11-06 Thread Brynn
Hi Friends, I've been searching for Inkscape extensions today, and just came across one of the old pages on staging (in search results), where I was reorganizing community info. The last I remember, I thought those were all going to be deleted. But they're all still there -- 9 pages!

Hi Martin and all, >> who have no previous interest in the product. > > I think someone who writes a guide has probably used the 'product' ;-) Oh, in my analogy, the 'no previous interest' would be in working on the website. I would be trying to "sell" them on the idea to help on the website.

[Inkscape-docs] bad link in Extension Repository

2015-11-06 Thread Brynn
Hi Friends, I've found an extension in the Repository with a not found url. I'm not sure who looks after this page, if anyone does. Should it just be left alone until the extension author comes to fix it? Or should it be deleted? Anyway, it's 1.39 Badge Renderer. Thanks, brynn
