Ok, it sounds well, but BMC HW settings seem not have any idea about the
lan channel, like if there isn't any NIC.
It is coherent with HW settings, if the behaviour of a new BMC is that
it doesn't have a NIC and the last has to be configured later, in
order to make it available to BMC. But now the

ok,
sensor has been reinitialized, but commounication not.
I can issue a 'sensor' command and the answer seems correct
but non lan channel is available and after 'bmc reset cold' on IBM x3455.
Can this command reset BMC eprom where are stored informations on how to
contact the NIC and
BMC is not m
Hi Massimo,
If you refer to table 20.2 in ipmi specification v2.0, it is mentioned that
user should not depend on response of the command.
Cold reset command resets the communication, event and sensor functions.
So could you check if sensor or communication has been reinitialized?
If yes, th
Ok, If I try the command:
# ipmitool -v raw 0x6 0x2
RAW REQ (channel=0x0 netfn=0x6 lun=0x0 cmd=0x2 data_len=0)
RAW RSP (0 bytes)
#
it returns a blank line... not good, I suppose...
Massimo.

Hi Massimo,
Did you used the raw interface?
Is your command looks like -
ipmitool -vI lan -H -U root raw 0x6 0x2
Thanks

Hi,
I'm using ipmitool on IBM x3455 machines. It works well, until I
send to BMC the command
'bmc reset cold'. After that, BMC loose the lan channel as 'ipmitool lan
print' and '
ipmitool lan print 1' say:
# ipmitool lan print
Invalid channel: 255
# ipmitool lan print 1
Channel 1 is not a LAN
