Don,
I also remember those days, both CFCP and CFWB. CFWB is still common
here, but I guess not for long.

After a couple people at the IRCA convention last Fall, that came buy my
place, the SE leg on the WNW EWE was not straight up and down
vertically, and they mentioned it. I went out and climbed the tree and
moved the leg over farther and now it is much better. That leg is not
easy to get at 25

If they plan on selling HD for subscription, I doubt AM will work out.
Face it, you can't get some of the HD stations in HD within the total
city limits!
Most of the CEs I know feel AM IBOC is dead in the water. FM may be
more viable.

Pat,
Received an E-mail from Marty owner of KOHI. He says that he has improved the
antenna impedance and now is running 500 watts per sunrise at 5:45 A.M.. The
signal increase that I heard was from the antenna work and not a power increase
to 1,000 watts. This morning (6:30 A.M.) they must
Pat,
My Ewe has a slope that is greater than yours. Using my pole system as masts,
they tend to bend at the top and slope back towards the base. Today I'm going
to buy 2 bamboo poles and attach them to the metal masts. This should lessen
the slope by 75% and lessen the weight of the mast.
Listened from 1215-1255 UT and only heard a very weak carrier on 594 at 1245 UT.

Hi Dennis,
I also bought two more 10 foot sections on PVC pipe to extend the
height, but never got that far in my work on straightening out the
sloping leg. But I did notice a difference last night. It will take a
bit more work to see if I can increase the signal a bit more.

Thanks Dennis. KOHI has always been heard here days, but better with the
Eastern beverage. Forest Smith was a previous owner along with Ken Karge
that used to own KSWB here in Seaside.

Glad to. It's just easier to keep all my comments on one page, rather than
spread over a moving list. I did just write a few more things on that a few
minutes ago.
If anyone has any comments, email me off list and I can set up a page for
them. Pro/Con,

A while back I became aware of something called the Pacific DC Intertie.
It is a high voltage DC power system that transports hydroelectric power
from the Columbia River in northern Oregon to the Los Angeles area. It
provides enough electricity to power up to three million homes in the
L.A. area.

Anyone who can be talked into buying a subscription to AM HD would buy

Good comments. Also who can hear AM IBOC all that well? In most cases
the AM IBOCer does not even cover their city. Also, there is the

Has CHQB moved to FM too? I have not heard CHQB is many years. They used

Very correct Charlie. DC interties are also very common in Japan where
the western half of the country is mostly 60 hz AC while the eastern
half is mostly 50 hz AC. Direct AC interties would be impossible. DC
interties are also useful for long submarine runs where AC is plagued by
high capacitance
