Colin,
I second that! KGO never sounded so good! That horrible IBOC hash in
their audio was sometimes uncomfortable to listen to.

Well we really are lucking out as there is an approaching storm out in
the Pacific that if it was to hit the coast, would be worse than the

the East wind is keeping this huge storm off shore enough. The high w

KGO has not run IBOC at night in about a week.
They must be responding to hundreds of complaints
about their audio quality.

ABC? What does ABC have to do with it? They don't own either station,
and never owned KFBK...

Tom,
Images can to caused by a transmitter, a mixing product, that is, or

Colin,
Thanks for the postings. Yes, your station on 891 was probably Thailand.
Quite common here in the Fall.
Yes, I get that 900/920 & 950/970 hash from the Oakland stations in
the morning before LSR. Plus now 940/960 from KTBR Roseburg OR.

Walt,
A great bunch of logs! I knew KSWB could be heard at Tofino as Bob & I
listened to it there back in 1974. Infact KVAS-1230 (now KKEE) and
KAST-1370 Astoria were also heard. Here I get CBXQ 540.

Good morning,
Having rare free time to chase TP's, I heard the following on a
barefoot Sony ICF-2010 this morning:
594: Strong, with Japanese news at 1401 (also audible on a Sony ICF-S5)
621: Good, with woman speaking in Mandarin Chinese at 1336

IRCA,
I can hear an odd buzzing that just started about the time night time iboc did,
at several places on the dial. I thought it might be the result of the 2 ibocs
on either side interfering with each other.

Another interesting morning here in southern Alberta. The dial was very
lively, and noted my first Chinese reception of the season, with good
signals on 1206 and 1044. Numerous Japanese, and also a good signal
from the VOA via Vladivostok on 648. A ton of carriers, and frustrating

I decided to scan through the local AM band to see just how the IBOC
reception is with an ear toward how a listener would perceive it. Here's a
list of stations I could get. Radio is a JVC KD-HDR1 and the antenna is a
whip-type on top of an 80' tower. This sort of approximates a car parked on
