There are two principles I've tried to apply to predicting geomagnetic
conditions over the year. The first is to realize that some events are nearly
spontaneous and may not be predictable beyond 24 hours out. This is either due
to the cause being non-periodic or the cause simply being more
Listened from 1410-1435 ut and conditions was better than yesterday. The only
audio was on 594, 657, 693 and 774 all audio was very poor and just above the
noise level. The carriers were: 531, 558, 567, 585, 594, 603, 639, 648, 657,

what was going on with CHED Edmonton which sometimes shows up under KCIS.Not a

I checked 630 after seeing your original e-mail last night. At about
9:30 PST, KCIS was its usual strong self. It sounded about normal
strength here whenever I checked after that. So it may have either been
weird conditions or elese they had problems earlier in the evening.

Wow, Nick. If there's one graph that shows the present state of the sun,
then it has to be this one. Now the big question is how long it will last!
For the SWL, it's been way too long, and for us MW DXers, let it continue!

Hi! I am so excited to have heard tp's this morning for the 1st time

I continued to check the band until I went to bed just after 0900, and
then had the SDR-IQ recording the 600's and 700's for a few hours.
Conditions at 0900 would have made for a decent sunrise enhancement,
especially this time of year, with audio popping up in all sorts of
places. My
Quite a bit of action today, perhaps due to better conditions, or maybe simply
due to listening from a bit further north. Things certainly hang in
considerably longer here than down south in Dunmore, with plenty of signals
after 1600.

Bruce,
That is odd. I tried after Midnight and had CHED alone on the channel

These days dominant. If I hear it, it is buried u/KCIS. So maybe the

Hello Todd,
Congratulations on your exciting TP receptions with the Tecsun PL-310 in
Minnesota this morning. Receiving the Japanese on 594, 747 and 774 must have
been a great thrill for you, as well as the tentative receptions of
1566-HLAZ, and 1575-VOA Thailand.

Does anyone else hear a rather warbly carrier on 828 when there are TA
conditions? Never heard any audio.
I asked this question also on the mwoffsets list, and Karel Honzick in the
Czech Republic said that he was sure it was Bulgaria. Now for some audio, hi.
Nick
Nick, I had a quick look at some of my Perseus SDR files from Masset over
the New Year, and it was Bulgaria, I thought. The carrier didn't appear
terribly warbly to me, however, and I didn't see anything else untoward on
the waterfall displayWalt

George,
Thanks for the tip! The carrier is strong on 1379.70. Audio is weak. Whoever
they are, they're running a sportscast with a man announcer at 0038 EST
separable from 1380.
