Bruce,
Maybe CKWX should look at another frequency, maybe the old 600?
Especialy if they could get 50 KW. Unless Mt. Angel drastically changes
its' pattern or lowers power, it looks like CKWX will have to deal with
the QRM. Of course a booster station or a translator on FM in the

Will be interesting to read what the fellows upstate heard.

I poked around a bit on Saturday morning with the barefoot Eton e-100.
Only station of note was new to the main and ULR logs. It was on 1570
and mentioned Alton, North Alton, 618 area codes and lots of "Riverbend"
mentions, so it was WBGZ Alton, IL! #4 on 1570 for the Illini state.

I assume that KPWX's tx is south of Portland and that they want to reach
Portland's Mexican community so I don't think changing patterns is going to
happen, however, what CKWX should be pressing for is for somewhat lower CH

Oct 4 at 1214, strong signal and still but weaker at 1242 recheck: sweep and
step tones, like you might hear from a MW station doing a proof; same thing
over and over, from low to high pitches. What`s this? Previously
True, but there are International laws regarding QRM and since CKWX has
been on 1130 forever, Mt. Angel may be forced to make changes. Mt. Angel
is indeed South of Portland, but Bustos Media already has several
stations in the Portland area. They have 1010, 1150, 1230, and 1520.

I have many back issues of DX Monitor and DX News and need to clean
out some "stuff". None are recent. They are available for
postage. Is anyone interested? I don't want to toss them in the trash.

Hello All,
This morning's Asian propagation seemed down somewhat in comparison
to previous days, and Dennis' high band boost was not noticed here. (There
is some evidence that the 9' box loop here performs best on the low band
frequencies, in comparison to single-loop directional anten
Today's St. Catharines Standard reports that 1220-CHSC is now officially off
the air for good.
The CRTC had denied an application to renew the broadcasting licence of CHSC,
and they were supposed to be off the air at the end of August. Their owner,

of the noise makers (wireless modem, printer, phone, computer, etc

This explains why I struck out bigtime here trying to get them via SSS in late
Sept. The logging a saw of them with classic rock and ID's from mid Sept
must've not been RS. 73 KAZ now needing 4 stations to complete MN from IL.
