Unfortunately, I wasn't listening after 14:00, but I did record several
mornings for 5 minutes around 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00. Overall, pretty dismal
with very little to hear. On the 3rd and 4th, I did hear 594, 621, 639, and
774. On the 2nd, I heard the same, plus 657, 180, 189, and 279. All

though I don't think I can claim to hear the some of the stations that he

Not much yet, but lots of weak to near imaginary carriers are being heard, plus
audio traces on 945 and 1215...

A couple of thoughts - I have two sons, in their early 30's, both of whom were
in varying degrees exposed to AM DX, but it didn't take. Computers and internet
were always more interesting to them, as were pm3 players, CD's etc.
FM is alo always a very viable alternative or supplement to AM DX'in

I listened at 1218-1300 UTC this and didn't hear a signal from across the
Pacific. It was the first quiet morning in that direction since summer.
Strongest signals were from Mexico and the southern USA.

I'm happy and proud), if I mention my hobby to someone, they immediately
shrug their shoulders and say "I can get that on the internet." I don't

Robbie,
Thank you for the great story. You didn’t say how old you were, but I know that
at age 48, I still get a thrill from hearing distant stations on the AM band.
I’m always amazed at how many people don’t even know it’s possible to hear
stations from far away.
