Hi Everyone,
Well, I was hoping our winds would not be as strong tonight, but they
are back up with gusts to 70-90 MPH and they are in that area. One gust
knocked out the power to Megler Mt, the TV translators went out. That
was some wind gust, so it probably was 100 MPH on the mountain. It is

Here in southern Alberta the conditions matched the comment from
Dennis - very poor. A few carriers, and that was it. After being
away for a while just getting back to listening - and not an auspicious
beginning!

Thanks Chuck. If I can't hear the DX at least I can dream about it,
based on the carrier frequency. Extreme minimalist DXing, indeed.

Welcome back Rob! I was suffering serious withdrawal symptoms without your

Yes, I used the phones. However, they work good, but after wearing them
for a long time, my neck gets tired when lying down in bed, so it is

On 10 Nov, Ecca was on 1268.977 so surely that is your carrier.
As to the guy on the low side of 1575, this was noted at Grayland in
October. I have a few noisy seconds of audio that seem English so I
suppose it was one of the AFN stations other than Misawa which is right
on 1575.

Hi, Nick. Good to hear from you again. Farda was always spot on frequency
in past years, and usually very easy to differentiate. No longer, perhaps?

Gary,
That is right. But even the thought of this storm being anything like
the 07, is a reminder of 4 years ago. But it is windy out there
tonight.
But I am happy, as long as there are no more trees down and no damage. I
am running out of spare trees hi. This is rough, but I have seen many

Hi Patrick,
I'm glad that you and your antennas survived the first round of nasty
weather this season, and that it wasn't anything like the monster wind
storm that knocked out power along the coast a few years back. There
are still reminders of that severe storm (broken tree trunks, etc.)

Dennis,
One more comment, according to the Weather Service, this storm we have
had since Sunday night is close to what we had in 2007, except not as
powerful. This low pressure storm is sitting over us for a good 48
hours. Most of our Pacific storms are fast movers, so this one is a
toughie. There
Thanks Dennis. the wind & rain died down from a bit after 0700 PST to
about 1430 PST, but now the wind & heavy rain are back but not as bad as
overnight. Our high wind warning is still in effect until 0700 PST
Wednesday morning, and we could still have gusts to 65-75 MPH tonight.
It should die down
Pat,
Glad to read that your survive the storm. We had winds probably up to 25 mph
and about 1 inch of rain in
a 24 hour period. The TV antenna mast rotated 180 degrees so our two HDTV
antennas are pointed opposite
of the Portland area. NOAA forecast for Kalama is rain and showers through

Hi everyone,
Well, I got through another hurricane force Pacific storm, even though
we still have a high wind warning until 10 PM (PST), so they could come
back up. But heavy rain coninues. I cheked my antennas via the R8 this
morning and they all seem fine. I cannot get out and physically check

Very sorry to hear about Larry Munson. When I lived in GA 1986-1989, I loved
to listen to his call of Bulldog Football games and also his sports reports on

The CRTC decision has to do with content and viability of each applicant
and the frequencies they are lusting for, not a matter of language here.
