Thanks Paul. I did not know the height of their tower, but I fiqured it
was short. No wonder their 10 KW doesn't do well.

Probably? It definately does. If the tower is "cut" for 1/4 wave at 1370...
that means its probably just under 200 feet.
1/4 wave for 720 would be like twice the height at 1370.. that will
absolutely have an effect on the signal. If they had a true 1/4 wave for
720, you'd probably hear them bette
Neil,
Good going on KFIR. They don't seem to get out all that strong in my
direction (NNW) at 130 miles. They were rare on 1370 and a regular on
720 all day with 10 KW, but are not strong for the power. The shorter
tower (1370) probably has an affect on the signal.

As most MW DXers know there aren't a lot of stations on 720 kHz. One I have
wanted for a while is KFIR in Sweet Home, Oregon, about 450 miles from
my QTH.
At night KDWN in Las Vegas, NV dominates the frequency with their 50 KW
power,
day and night. I decided to try for KFIR in the time after sun

Here in Victoria, very weak audio on 1503 and 1593 around 1200UT, no
hope of readability. Music on 1503, so wonder if it really was Radio
Sport this time? No joy on 891 or 1116 here however.
best wishes,
