Very limited sunrise DX, and not much of interest earlier. JOUB-774
for example was at its best at 1000UT, more like sunset enhancement
at the transmitter.

So you called the guy. How was he able to give a definitive answer over the
phone? Without further details, it seems like he said "no" without any
evidence. Or maybe parts of the story were left out???

I assume we can eliminate WDPC Dallas as they are just over the hill from you.

I am getting the signal fairly strong here, it's to my N.E. 17°N on a compass
dial. The signal peak and null both match up to 17°N.
2-10-16 I heard the signal from 4:22pm to 11:58pm central time. I also have
some audio recording examples from last night.
Radio: PL-380.
1566 VOA and 1575 HLAZ had fair audio in the 1330-1415 time frame
today, but otherwise it was mostly a case of 'almost' being an
interesting morning. Lots of carriers in the X-band, a number close to
audio, but only Brisvaani on the high side of 1701 actually produced
any, and that was
The recording about the Ham and UHF traffic following the big Bay Area
quake in 1989 was really what listening is all about. i was listening when
that event happened and it brought back memories. That particular post by
Colin Newell and all the posts about the 1500 kHz anomaly are very
informative

I thought everyone could use a break from 1500 kHz with a walk down

I have not listened to this audio in over 25 years - and it was taken off

after the Earthquake and the day after. I have over an hour of Amateur

Just throwing a thought out there but what about Doniphan Mo? On again off

As a boy of 7-8 years old (late 1960’s) I remember attending a ham radio club
meeting in Cleveland, TN. One of the members there had a straight key that
transmitted modulated CW to any nearby AM radio. Basically, a wireless code
practice oscillator. The range was very limited, probably less
Colin,
Thanks for including this in your post. We were there when it happened, looking
down on the fire in the Marina but not really grasping what was happening to
the homes situated on the gelatinous surface. With no AC, we watched what was
going on using our 8” battery operated b TV set.

Excellent question - the VHF links stayed up and were being recorded at the
station - for rebroadcast later.
I have around 1 hour of live ham traffic on 20, 40 and 80 meters. If memory
serves me correctly, they were off for all of or part of 1 evening.
