cases. Have you ever seen a Class 4 AM -- with a power like 833 watts Day and
Night. ( I think the 1400 Silverdale, WA has less than 1 KW ). That is

The 1510 Mountlake Terrace station had a two tower -- DA system located near
52nd Ave West and 212th SW in a small construction yard. Studios on site in a
one story wood frame building with a couple of large windows. A Bauer AM
transmitter. The coverage area was almost circular -- except for

-- the value of a station is no longer based soley on it's intake of cash.

KFSG is also a very old call sign. Prior to March of 2003 -- when the station
on 1690 in Roseville, CA. asked for use of the calls -- it was used in Los
Angeles by one of the very first AM and later FM stations - . KFSG stood
for "Church of the Foursquare Gospel" started by female preacher

I have never seen nor heard of any AM Broadcast station -- ever trying to use a
full wave length tower. It would be very very difficult to feed. Does anyone

Patrick -- As you go higher than a 5/8ths wave -- you start to get a
"kick-back" of skywave against the ground wave. A full wave would be like
using a tree stump. Almost all of the Clear Channel -- 1A -- 50 kw stations
use half-wave. And you do have to figure the ground as well as the gro

Thanks Patrick. One of my first jobs was at a 1 KW station -- ND1 -- on 1280
in a marsh. Covered fair. It was able to beat a 50 KW station on 1020 in the
ratings. Radio has to change -- as all things do. Back in the 1970's -- it
was common to have an "Irish Hour" or "German Hour" of progam

It has been a very long time ( Back in 1969-1971 ) but a few of the Army radio
techs used to use 1500 -- as well as a few other selected channels -- just for
kicks. We had a transmitter at the log center and one on main post. There
was a proposal to use a 10 watt AM or 10 watt class "D" FM s
KOMO AM 1000 must have been working on the DA antenna pattern. The signal is
much better toward the south again. That would explain the Saturday AM

LAX is using a 50 foot ( 15 Meter ) pole and operates a 100 watt transmitter.
The site is on the south side of the street -- on Century Blvd -- just west of
Aviation Blvd. It is just east of the main LAX terminal. Part two of the
existing system is a 10 watt transmitter that feeds a "leaky R

radio channels -- for 4 million dollars -- for airport operations (Police,
Fire and maintenace). They own 4 airports. LAX, Van Nuys, Palmdale and

I think that the calls need to be changed --- to protect the innocent -- and
the radio listeners.

My comments are about re-location of ALL AM daytime stations and AM stations

better and to re-fuel the existing AM band -- so that it might provide a true
