Hi Les, Great to hear from you. I had been wondering about the DXers who
were active when I was. I saw Doug Smith W9WI in Dayton a couple of times.
And has anyone heard from Saul Chernos? He was active with the DX tests
also.

Joe,
I’m right here, lurking—and trying to find time to reorganize my shack. Once
completed, I hope to be more active in BCB DXing again.
Can it really be 12 years since that DX Test? Wow—how time flies.
Congratulations on the catch, and best of DX to you Joe.

Hearing on 650 ABC News at the start of the hour, a fade, some country
music, another fade. First thought was KSTI Rancho Cordova, but they are
Westwood One, but the country music makes it KMTI.
It's been almost 12 years since they had their DX test, and I

We've fixed the muddy audio problem. My CE form Asheville was here over the
weekend and things sound remarkably better. They still aren't GREAT, but
it's alot better then we were.
We're going to have to work on the ATU soon, that's what's keeping us at low
power.

Have had several rounds of morse code. Hard to
distinguish what's being said. Not sure what the other
thing is underneath. Think I'll call it a night. Utah
#2. Tried 1640 for SS and briefly sat on 1160, but
nothing obvious. Also heard music on 840, Good Morning
Starshine, but this may be a latin.
WSM was being a pain to fully null here in Memphis, and slop from local
WCVR-640 on LSB. I wasn't have much luck in ECSS USB, AM or AM Synch and
finally settled on tuning to 651 kHz in CW mode and narrow filtering.
That did the trick, decent morse code and sweep tones from 0630 UTC onward.
KMTI-650 heard very weakly under WSM several separate times between 0309
and 0330 EDT with sweep tones, but no code or voice IDs, using my ICF-2010
and Radio West loop. No fancy phasable beverages for me.
Not sure how clearly the sweeps will be on my cassette tape, or on
conversion to an MP3
The KMTI DX text was heard in Maryland. At 0242 3/19 heard a
combination of sweep tones and code IDs through WSM and WSRO. The
code sounds jumbled because of the interference, but you can tell it
was code. The sweep tones came through just fine.

Listened to the overnight recordings, and the sweeps are clear at a
number of points between 0204-0220 am EDT with WSM phased, and WSRO
fighting for dominance. CW snippet heard near the bottom of the hour.

KMTI is heard fairly often here, so did my DXing via the tape recorder
last night. The sweeps made it through very well, and heard a number
of code IDs. The only voice ID I heard was right at 12:00 MST, when
CKOM was weaker than average. Also heard KGAB and KSTE during the
test, but no
KMTI 650khz test heard very well in Central Alabama. WSM continues to prove to
be impossible to null here,
despite trying a variety of antennas as inputs into the Quantum Phaser. Best
reception proved to be using the
Wellbrooke ALA1530 loop alone (unphased) and adjusting it for minimum signal
Pretty much as expected, this one was a no-show from here. My bearing
to KMTI is almost due west, whereas WSM is SW. Since I would be
recording remotely, I knew that I had a better chance of aiming a bit
to the North of where KMTI's normal bearing would be rather than
nulling WSM and nulling
Checking the tape from last night, the morse code and sweep tones were
easily audible under a mixture of CISL and CKOM. Unlike Nigel to the south
of me, this was a first for me.
Many thanks to all those that made this test possible.

A late report from the Great White North...
I wasn't planning to be up for this one, just try unattended recording, but as

Like almost everyone else, I heard the KMTI test this morning.
I was too tired to stay up for it (after having spent two nights chasing Trans

I recorded the whole test, which was quite dominant o/KSTE. CISL was mostly
phased

As I thought, a piece of cake to hear with the 10 KW. Voice ID, morse
code, sweep tones, etc. Creaming everything else off the Eastern
beverage. Unneeded, but nice to hear again. Thanks for setting up the
test. Hope a lot will log it from the East.

Times CDT.
First noted in house on 2010 with WSM nulled about 0102 with code and sweeps
and is easy outside using phased BOGs again with code and sweep tones etc
with talk stn QRM . I don't need CKOM nor KGAB so to sleep with me.

KMTI DX test in at 11:01 PM PDT tune-in, lots of sweep tones, voice code IDs.
They are somewhat of a regular here with KSTE and XETNT also there depending on

I've heard clear sweep tones at 0019, and possibly
some tones. It was fain at first but now have a beter

KMTI being heard very easily here at only 358 miles. Definitely dominant
although I can still hear WSM in the background. WSM was dominant on the

only 90

better.
