Sure. XMP meta data is the agreed standard. At least in the phyics
area. Documentation is available at
http://help.jabref.org/en/XMPHelp/. Please try it and provide
feedback.
I seemed to be wrong and right. There are some metada in PDF and acrobat
reader shows them in the file menu under properties, but I was right,
that there is no structure in this and they are different across pdfs
and unusable since they are not harmonized.

wrapper. Given the amount of publishers around I doubt that will ever be
