I'm currently looking into JavaFX from the enterprise developer's
point of view and I'm also working on a little article on the subject.
When looking at JavaFX script, it sure is impressive with build in
binding, properties and so on.
And the ease of making cool effects and animations happen real

Indeed EU didn't make (yet)
I'd say that it's nonsense to take decisions now: at the moment risks

I worry that Oracle is too focused on large enterprise.
I don't so much worry that Oracle is going to dump funding for all of
their open source technologies that they now manage, but I don't
really know if they have any experience collaborating with other, more
open communities. From what I can
Hi all, I'm new to the group, but a long time listener.
I listened to the podcast this morning and I must say I was surprised
with a few of the things being said.
First of all, statements like "Oracle is a contribute to Open Source"
simply is not true. Oracle (or Bea) hasn't open sourced any tec
Oh, I dream of running DB2 on our Mainframe...
And yes, our Unix is all pSeries / AIX based, and thus DB2 with a
little DB2 on Windows.
Oracle (apparently) left with our last Solaris box a few years back...

Still lots of large corps that use COBOL and mainframes and if IBM is

I've got the impression that the Posse had agreed on the last podcast
that DB2 is insignificant in the DB market. "All the places I've been
were using Oracle", etc.
Come on, we are technologists...!
So, I thought I might add some related links and numbers:

SpringSource is not a public company like Sun though.
Oracle would also have to pay for the egos... ;-)
But I'm sure Larry knows how these minds work...! :-)

But more importantly, can we continue to eat pork, bacon and ham?
(I only like bacon once a month or so, but I really like the freedom
to have it, even if it is rare).

Well Rod did say in a reply to a comment on this article that "Oracle
is a well run business and has some good products." so maybe he would
be happy if they get an excellent product :-)
