They make the library more accessible and you can jump by relative time with

I have XP and tried to upgrade my 6.0 to 8.0 with the new disc
(including the real speak).
I can't seem to get my 8.0 to work.
I tried to enter on 6.0 and un check the automatically speak and un check
the system tray feature. I also checked the same for 8.0 and still 6.0 comes
on when
I just went to my "desk top" and clicked on JAWS 8.0 and when I clicked on
"about" it read, version 6.0 not the 8.0 that I installed.
By the way, there was no mention during the install asking for an
authorization number.

Have you tried updating your Winamp to the newest version, that being 5.35?
I would also suggest you install the scripts for the Winamp Library for
Jaws, as that would make the Winamp Library more accessible.

The Lame Encoder is just an add-on that will allow you to encode MP3 files.
If you do not have the encoder installed you won't be able to convert to MP3
format.
