Thanks for the info. I was able to negotiate the DVD by using the right mouse button and arrow keys. The keyboard short keys did not all work whether or not I had JAWS on or off. This particular DVD was a compliment to a text book and had 54 video clips. There were descriptions to each clip but

You may need to turn down the volume on the cassette player in addition to using an atenuated patch cord. Such patch cords are usually available at Radio Shack. Btw, most patch cords have a male connector at each end and those connectors would normally be referred to as a plug, not as a jack.
