I remember that lesson from a talking typer session many many moons ago. I
guess the reason why I am still slow using that method is because I do not
practice it enough.
Thanks.

Hi Kimsan, here is some suggestions on how to memorize the number row.
For left hand use:
Use the pinky finger for the 1
use the ring finger for the 2
Use the middle finger for the 3
Use the index finger for the 4 and 5
Right hand use:
Use the index finger for the 6 and 7
Use the middle finger for
Curtis,
That site is down right now for renovation. It's supposed to be operational
no later than May 1.
Here's hoping that is an accurate estimate.

I have a lap top and use the lock dots to place on the f and j and in like
fashion, I also have the lock dots on the 4 and 7 and 0 as well as the f4
and f7 so my hands are always in the proper position.
This way I don't need much time to type in the phone numbers!
Try it and let me know if this
When I entered on link, nothing was happening so I alt+tab. There was a
message for quick time to update or merge or something so I said yes and
page loaded. Unsure if this is the same for you but maybe try alt+tab to
see if anything is going on.

Would be nice, but when you use a USB num pad it will do the same on
both. The drive has no way to tell witch is witch.

ok, here are a few tips.
Remember when using the num pad. The numbers are reversed to a phone
with 1, 2, 3 at bottom on unm pad and top of phone. Leave left hand
on home row. That way when going back to left hand side your hands
will fall natural to keyboard. No more hunting for home row.

The provided links for the recording of Dave is not working for me. The
page loads, I wait 10-15 minutes, JFW counts down the percentage to 100, the

and done everything I know to do. Any suggestions? I have Windows XP

I havven't followed this thread much but I never knew about turning the
numlock on to type in numbers using the numpad.
I am pretty slow with typing in numbers when on the phone and needing to

Would anyone have any tips on how to use the number row when typing
Hi Graham,
I have never tried this, since I haven't had the need,
but I wonder if a secondary USB numpad could be used to supplement the one
on a standard keyboard.
If this is possible, perhaps Jaws could use the one on the keyboard, and use
the external for numeric input.
Just a thought,

This was always a concern of mine and I never got over it when I was working.
I was slow using the number row and much preferred the numpad but as
you mentioned I was always forgetting to turn it off again and
messing up my document and having to correct in mistake. In the end
I struggled usi
