I am using Windows 7 and if I want to adjust the volume I just press the
Windows key and type in Volume. One of the choices is Adjust system volume
and I hit enter on that choice. I then arrow to the volume level I want and
hit enter and it's done. It is much quicker than this description.

general if it works on windows 7 then normally it will work on newer systems
as well. For example most recently I checked out the oldest version of CDEX
up there on windows 10 and it worked on this system perfectly fine

every couple of weeks. So I bought and switched to a dongle to authorize

Applications, just to add to the collection. Since I run Jaws from the
system tray, this is how I would do it.
1. Insert / Jaws key + J, to open Jaws options.
2. Press the letter, U, to open Utilities, or arrow to,
Zoom settings? Restore/maximize screen? Windows System Parameter settings in
JAWS? Accessibility settings in IE General settings dialog? Default screen
resolution on video driver? Default color scheme in Windows?

This will open the volume control, and at that point you can simply use the

documents folder. Cutting and pasting various word and text documents into
various folders. All of a sudden jaws started speaking with a lot of static.

I also have a 64-bit Win7 machine. On my system, JAWS reports the details the
way you and I would like when it comes to subfolders. For example, in Windows
Explorer, JAWS will report the number of subfolders within a folder and the
position of each subfolder within that list.
I did two backups and both times the computer did not shut down. I was not
sure what I did or did not do the first time. The second started the backup
and then under power arrowed down to shut down. Am I missing something?

Since you are using a Serial to USB adaptor, it created Com3 when it was first
plugged in. Com1 was the default for a physical Serial port, which you don't
find on today's machines. If you open Device Manager and goto Ports (Com &
LPT), you will see that there is no Com1 for your computer.

JAWS update tool starts installing the update but never finishes - I have to
reboot the machine and re-install.
In the latest case (this morning), the last message displayed indicated taht
it was installing JAWSPatch.

While JAWS convenient OCR can read pages I haven't had any luck with it
reading entire documents of this nature. To have the document I need to use
Kurzweil to read it. Generally you would need to use something like Kurzweil
or Open Book.

I’m currently using the latest version of jaws, which also encludes the patch
that came down the other day as well.
I purchased a USB to nine pen adaptor so that I may be able to use my dec-talk
express once again.
I see that my dec-talk is plugged into com port 3,
It would seem that my hardware dongle has gone bad for some reason or
another. Has anybody had this problem before? Obviously it looks like a call
to tech support is in order. It must be internal as there is no physical
damage to the thing at all, just like when I bought it several years ago.
