After control N, if you type the first part of the name or the e-mail
address, you should be able to tab once and hear nothing. If that happens,
you can tab again, then shift tab and hear who it's going to. What do you
hear when you tab once?

there was a choice to start it in the mode that last worked or something
like that. I believe I arrowed down once to get there and then entered. I
