Why everyone likes going the long way is a puzzle.
Short version and works every time on the programs you want it to
work on, and nothing else.
open up the game or software you want to set jaws to sleep on.
once open do a insert + 6. That will open up configuration mode for
that program only. i
because I don't know if
there are differences to silencing Jaws between the 2 operating systems.

I have downloaded some games from Games for the Blind recently. When I
first play the games I followed the instructions to silence JAWS. Se Below.
Now when I go into the start menu Jaws won't speak. It works everywhere
else though.

If you are on the desktop, press alt f4 to shut off your PC, just up or down
arrow to find sleep and press enter.
Press enter again to wake it up.
