I perform the recommended maintenance tasks suggested on the JAWS web site,
of running "Clean disc",
the "Check disc","scan disc" and occasionally defrag.
I also got rid of "Windows defender
Those instructions will work with Vista also.

Chris,
The check disc is more of a surface scan whereas the scan disk scans the
files and folders.
The process takes a lot longer using scan disc than it does with check disc.
