Secondly, 1.2.0 version is fairly old now, if you are installing from new why
aren't you using 1.4.0?

As devon says, multiple war's in a single ear is the simplest solution.
Alternatively you can use remote ejb interfaces to communicate between
applications and use Seam/EJB3 in each application.

Putting on my Red Hat for a moment, we basically offer this, RHDS being the
last (?) piece of the puzzle:
RHEL + JBoss AS + Supported database + Hibernate/Seam/jBPM/Drools etc. +
RichFaces/Facelets + RHDS

of input tag was binded with bean action which checked a pressed button/command

I think you need to separate out the converter and the store. This way Seam

I complete respect what you're saying about the far more important design,
stability and usability of the portal, independent of the portlets. Let me
clarify my post and perspective a bit. I suppose my post was geared more
toward a view of the portal as a ready-to-run production
if you can use hibernate and toplink together, you can use jbpm 'with' toplink.
If you mean replacing hibernate completely, I suspect that that is possible but
requires it to be done complete by you.

Remember @DataModelSelection injects a value. So, when you hit save, you get a
value injected both by @In and by @DataModelSelection which is injecting the
last data model selection made which as you are in a conversation is the one
from your list page. And Seam injects data model selections

I've never done this so don't quite know how it would work, but it looks like
it should do. Grab a copy of the Seam source and step through and check that
the conversation context is referencing the right conversation entry.

Pete, it came down to 113 calls (half of as in my initial post), after I
removed a4j:support call from form submission button (h:commandButton ...). but
removing other a4j calls didn't make difference. 113 calls still seems too

I do not get any out by above calls, even though isTraceEnabled and
isDebugEnabled tell they are set to true. Anyone got any clues? The log.info()

JSF doesn't cache the value got from a backing bean - it just invokes the value
binding every time. Whether this is the ideal behaviour is up for discussion.
So don't put expensive logic in your getter!

I'm currently evaluating JBoss Portal. I have some problems starting the 2.62
bundled version. The 2.41 version works fine. Below you see the error messages
appearing when starting run.bat under Windows XP.

I'm aware of the fact that seam's emailing and PDF capabilities aint working
well with icefaces (seam 1.2.1 icefaces 1.6.1)

What could help to achieve better performance is variety of stress tests
which could be run as a part of the Seam build.
They would also have helped to understand how ongoing changes to Seam
impact the overall performance.
Each stress test should address a specific aspect of JSF application to
