The docbook example made me think that an XForms editor could be created using
the VPE. It basically is xhtml, so I thought it would not be that difficult.
And... it turned out indeed not to be, at least not the basics. Almost the full
set of xforms elements can be rendered in one way or a

What I used them for in the past was designing forms that have a fairly complex
structure. Car damage reports, the related insurance claim, the damage
assesment etc...
But from 'normal life' it can best be compared to tax forms where you have

it is not that it is forbidden to signal a token in a tasknode, but if you look
at what you want to achieve (end the task) it is more loggically then to pass

It's not the signal last or first it's the in-between that is difficult. Just
like with a custom fork, you can have a custom join which gives you all the
flexibility you need. Even use businessrules in there e.g. If a manager
approves it is already enough, otherwise 2 employees need to ap
not sure if you can prevent the tasknode from fully ending or explicitly make
it leave the node. There are some limitations build in the task to make sure it
behaves as expected.
Another reason is that when putting to much process-logic into actions, it
becomes invisible in the process image

multiple sections) the mapping file is in the jbpm jar. If the config file you

update scripts. It uses the class JbpmSchemaTask from

cool... that's a stacktrace. You seldomly encounter one in the wild all by
itself. They normally are accompanied by some text, relatex code where things

You are not missing something. jBPM does not support ssl (or starttls). You
have to write your own mail class for that. If you search the forum, you can

interupting long runnning things is not different in jBPM then in any other
java application.
Make actionhandlers that can receive events (non-jbpm events) and act upon
them. Have your timer send one of these events then..

With all the online mobile devices it is indeed a very interesting addition.
On thing that I think would make it *a lot more secure* ;-) is using a hash as
an ID instead of the actorid. (just like google does) This would require an
additional field in the identity system I think

I don't say you need a database to run things, I just say that the jbpm
container resolves subprocess dependencies when you *deploy* them. Since you do
not deploy them, there is no resolver and you have to associate the two
yourself.

uhhmm... the jbpm 'server' runs inside the jboss as server. You need to provide
way more info about what is going wrong before we can help. With the
information I now have, even an answer like "is your computer turned on?" would
not be invalid ;-)

it might just be that indeed changing just the value of this column is enough.

If you handle the exception IN your actionhandler, it is normal java
exceptionhandling and you can put the token anywhere. If you do not handle it
in your actionhandler, it it 'bubbles up' to the engine and a specified error
handler can handle it or the engine handle
