I dont think using SUN's supplied jdk rpms, or using redhat's postgresql rpm is the way to go. 1) USE BLACKDOWN jdk. 2) COMPILE and TUNE postgresql by your own. Thats why you are using *NIX and opensource isnt it?? Cause you can fine tune any piece of it. Although you can install packages fro

FreeBSD has the fancy jail system, which potentially converts a server to multiple virtual machines, each one with its own root, its own disk space, and its own ip address/port numbers. I dont know if Linux has this feature ported, but many FreeBSD based hosting companies use it.
