If you are willing to struggle with applying patches, I've implemented jca
support for tjdo and it works fine in jboss. You could push the tjdo
committers to apply my patches.

We use Kodo JDO (www.solarmetric.com) very happily in JBoss. It isn't
free, but it is good value for money, IMHO.

originally were using entity beans, but we switched to using JDO because
they are much easier to program with a LOT less overhead. Most of the time
developers end up writing dependent objects for entity beans anyway, so why
not
