The JMeter Proxy does work with HTTP (not HTTPS), though it doesn't currently cope with applets and some other binary downloads. Perhaps you needed to add a Cookie Manager to the Thread Group. I'd suggest a test plan like so: Test Plan Thread Group HTTP Cookie Manager ... Samples
