rolling back to Java 6 isn't even possible, since Apple provided its own
versions of Java 6.

After the first update via auto update, Java is broken in Safari but not
Firefox. Also the Java control in Utilities is gone.
After suggested re-update via downloaded DMG file, same result. BUT I noticed
that the Java control is now in Settings under Other. This may have been the

We only had one issue. The Java 7 update 9 enforces stricter security
policies. As a result our main site (a Wiki) failed until we corrected the
Apache configuration against the https certificate. It now works fine.

Apple released a java "update" yesterday, the effect of which is to remove the
