That works well, so long as I hide the Bing imagery and the data layer and
then show the mapnik layer. Then my JOSM screen resembles the "other"
screen such as the OSMI or "keep right" mapnik screens and I can then
visually reposition to the wanted area.
However showing the mapnik layer and hiding
Sometimes, maybe if I am, fixing a whole suburb from "keep right"
suggestions, I download a whole suburb at once. This may take about 10
seconds but then I don't need to download again for quite awhile.
However during my edit session I will often use the download screen to
visually position myself
