This bug looks very similar to the one connected to Open plugIn (Ubuntu,
either OpenJDK or JRE 6 OR 7).
I wonder if this is a problem of those versions of java (1.6 and 1.7)

my take is that the victim has a big list of layers so the dialog gets very
