hmm. maybe someone else is going to have to chime in. My Ubuntu 17.10 version
is only on ffmpeg 3.3.4-2 . Maybe it is something else specific to Mint

qml flips the buffers on every repaint, that's a normal behavior, you would see
it also in plasmashell and any qml app, even a simple rectangle loaded in
qmlshell

After some more tests I have to admit, that it's not happening that regularly
sadly.

Addendum: the notifications are held back completely until I start khotkeys.
They are also not visible in the systray. After the start of khotkeys they
