Yea it turned out that it was preferring earlier ID3 tags over the newer
versions, I edited my library to remove old tags

Well, kid3 is a tag editor, which shows both id3 v1 and v2 tags, might give you
an insight on where the tag comes from

problems on my side with current git master (which is close to 2.8.90, the 2.9

To explain a bit: the only tag editor that show that tag is Amarok's own via
edit track info, the two tag editors on the right-hand side show that the Album
Artist is actually simply "Yellow

Maybe I am too dumb, but I fail to see what is wrong, it does show the track
under the correct tag you have in Album Artist.
