I would close this bug.
As I pointed out in [comment #20], the original photos can be viewed by
disabling the option to hide previous versions.

Are we sure this is still to be considered a bug?
As far as I have understood (and tested, actually):
- You start with a set of grouped image
- You edit one of them
- Saving the edited image, if it is the first time
