What does this message mean?
I set an audio reference, select "Align audio" and after a while I see that
message in the status bar:
"can not move clip to frame x"
Why can the clip not be moved?
What can the user do when that message appears?
It is difficult to compete because the skills needed are missing, not
"because open source".
Like a guy on a bike trying to fly to the moon.

This one is broken, too. "Generate script" in the Project render dialog
actually does NOT create any file.
Also it would be good to have an EDL export - this is a very standard thing
and interchanging project files is something that is needed in every
project.
Rendering a clip does not use 100% of CPU.
If I render stuff with ffmpeg directly (nothing to do with kdenlive) ffmpeg
uses all cores with 100% cpu load. Kdenlive is about 50% for each core. So
render time could probably be doubled.
Yes, "Render Project" dialog was set to "Parallel Processing".
f Kdenlive's purview.

well, that seems to be another bug, please someone with a kde account

Well, again something that is a very basic thing, but somehow seems to have
fallen off the developers priority list: looping a zone on the timeline
does introduce a delay when the loop starts over. This is not acceptable
for any kind of media software. This is an annoyance on the same level of

Does exist any concept of an advanced audio mixer?
I do not want to compare to different softwares, of course, as I understand
the value of open source, however I am really missing a proper
representation of an audio mixer in kdenlive.
The small audio indicator below the clip monitor is extremely s
This is interesting, however if I understand it right this is a one-time
workflow? It does not enable a real-time connection between kdenlive /
ardour?
So when I change something in Kdenlive, I need to export everything again
and start over again with work in Ardour, right?

So instead of scriptng kdenlive you recommend writing scripts for melt? Is
there a good python library for melt?

How to navigate timeline clips with keyboard shortcuts?
I would like to avoid touching the mouse as much as possible.
The mouse is a dangerous tool for al operations that need high precision. A
minimal unintended move with the mouse can destroy "the perfect cut" - you
still can undo, but only if y
Where can I find a simple audio equalizer?
What do I have to do to get some basic equalizer for audio correction?
This is something that is absolutely needed for every cut and should be
available without having to go to the mailing list...
Thanks again.
This is an incredibly useful feature I know from some other software and it
makes finding cut points much easier: stop the playhead, then jump back to
the last position, where playback started.
This can be done by adding a marker to every start position, but this is
not the real thing and actually
thanks for your hint, it is not quite the same as I described but comes
quite close. A cut performed this way still leaves a lot of room to
manually clean up, what is ok, but it would be better if there existed a
more high level semantic of "change active track".
BTW re crash course - unfortunately
Locking a whole rack makes sense in a certain state of editing. But to get
to that state, one will work a lot on individual clips - but I do not see
any way to lock the individual clip after work on that clip has been done
and the editor wants to prevent accidentally doing anything to that clip,

Can I write e.g. a Python script to do things in Kdenlive?
I can not find any instructions about any kind of scripting n the obvious
places... was that feature really forgotten? In an open source video
editor? I hope I am wrong with that guess...
Thanks!
I am using the latest 19.08.1 and I can see no "processing audio" message.
Also the final message disappears after a few seconds, so you can guess
that something happened if you remember the position of clips exactly - not
really usable with more than ten clips...
Re "no feedback means no error" -
OK, so I found the multicam view, it shows me multiple tracks in the
monitor, very nice!
Also I was able to align all clips on all tracks, thanks to the great audio
alignment feature and because Eugen told me the secret of how to move clips
by frames with the keyboard.
Now everything is ready for

The status bar does not show a process indication, it just give some
information when the process is completed. While the process is running I
do not see any kind visual feedback.
Thanks for the quick answer! Yes, of course I do that, too - however for
control I loop a clip zone and moving the clip by mouse is never as precise
as needed.
So I guess that feature simply is not available in Kdenlive? It is NOT
possible to move clips by frame / second with a keyboard shortcut?

Thanks for the quick answer! However, I want to only hide the timeline

I can not find a way to hide / show the timeline toolbar.
There is no timeline toolbar in the "Settings - Toolbars Shown" menu - this
seems to be a bug?
Thanks!
Hi,
I do not understand how to accomplish this basic task with Kdenlive.
I need to position a clip frame accurate so it is synced with audio of
another frame.
Unfortunately the "Align to audio" feature does not work on that clip
because the audio material is very bad - it worked for one other clip
rote:

not always perfect and some things still need a lot of progression, but
this progress is only possible with constructive people that bother / take

I would like to add "synchronize timeline with other apps" e.g. via midi
clock or via jackd. Very useful to have a video editor able to sync with a
real audio editor like ardour without import/export dance. Opens very new
opportunities to art creations near to real time video mixing.

In addition to the other, more general thread about multicam editing I

is it possible to sync multiple clips to a global timecode signal (NOT
manually, of course)?
Like, imagine you have multiple devices set to record timecode in "freerun"
mode, that

very good sync source. If you look at the video you will see how they are
using this information to sync some of the files - however it is also very
good to have other sync sources available, like e.g. audio.

Hi, happy holodays!

wanted to use kdenlive to explore the new stable version a bit.
I was disappointed to not find any reasonable concept of syncing multicam
material - a very important thing that a video editor could help
