I verified the code was present, but we failed to realize the DMA attributes
structure in Xenial is different.
When it was applied as is, the problem was introduced.

Seems like the fix isn't in or isn't working for this problem as I've just hit
this issue again on 4.4.0-49, at least twice:

The laptop Clevo P650RS has a Synaptics touchpad but it is not detected
by the kernel 4.8.0-27 on Ubuntu 16.10. There is no entry in
/proc/bus/input/devices matching it. I installed Windows to check if it
works at all, and it does. Windows identifies it as ACPI/SYN1219.

Based on the investigation so far, it seems to me that this is entirely
a kernel bug, and there is nothing required in the bridge-utils package
in order to fix this issue. So I'm marking this bug as Invalid for
