Your solution worked for me..
Now i have upgraded to ubuntu 18.04.
Every thing is fine except one issue.
When i do: sudo apt upgrade
I get errror for oem-kernel-cmdline
Please have a look at attached error snapshot
Plz help me resolve this error

Even i want to update the kernel, that is the reason i want upgrade ubuntu
version.
During upgrade only i am getting this error.

1. You have a very old kernel installed (3.13.0-38), which is causing
this message: "E: amd64-microcode: unsupported kernel version!" I'm not
sure if this is causing update-initramfs to fail, but if you don't need
this kernel you should just remove it.
