I get the same or very similar behaviour running Kubuntu 15.10 running
under VMWare Fusion on a Mac. After doing a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
the vm fails to boot, getting stuck on the boot logo. Hitting escape
right after the machine starts shows me the boot log, and it gets wedged

active and stereo output.
From looking at the code there are quite a few changes to the mwifiex
driver between 4.2.0 and 4.3.0, it does not seem meaningful to port
them back just to make 15.10 work with the default kernel.
I see this bug is tagged xenial. Please post a fix which can be added to
Wily, to escape the long shudown delay.

filesystem with data and metadata set to raid 1. I can't confirm that

into and got some of the tracebacks by sending syslog messages to
another server. However it appears that it may be a different issue.

Running rebalance on a 3 drive btrfs volume with both data and metadata

PIE when -mcmodel=kernel or when __KERNEL__ is passed in a header.
Attempts to compile using no PIE command line flags don't work either.

When I booted the computer this morning, the keyboard and mouse
(actually a Lenovo keyboard with trackpoint) wouldn't respond. I
swapped keyboards, and got the same problem.

Following the directions, I downloaded ...

... which wouldn't install until I removed the Nvidia 173.14.39 package.
I don't have the keyboard/mo
@Christopher, it's taken me a few hours to working with
3.13.0.71-generic and 4.4.0-040400rc8 to get past the boots into low
graphics mode.
I did the alt-ctrl-F1 and installed Nvidia-173, which didn't help. I
then installed Nvidia-current, which is working under 3.13.0.71-generic.

@Christopher, I've started download of a Daily build.
To clarify, I'm willing to burn the ISO to a USB key, and could run in a
portable that for a while. However, I'm so bleeding edge as to want to
install this version on a system that I've got operating again.
Will running off a USB key be suff
@Christopher, I downloaded the Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus) Daily Build
64-bit version onto a USB key, and am successfully running live.
I got the "gfxboot.c32 not a com32r image" problem initially, found the
solution to use the tab key, and now have the computer running.
