Our Dallas EAA chapter had a NASA engineer visit our chapter with videos,
photos etc many years ago. He said most of the drag on an air cooled airplane
is engine cooling and that a tapered wing gained you nothing until well over
200mph

If you are willing to purchase a small amount of plywood you could run the
spars through a planing machine and plane the plywood shear webs off of one
side of the main carry thru down to the spar caps. Once it's inspected to see
if the spreaders are there, then put the new plywood on that side.

Anti Seize lubricant on your exhaust pipes, it penetrates the metal tubes when
they get hot and protects them from rusting and leaves them look

A friend of mine had an engine out/wreck on a taildragger KR2 which broke both
of the Diehl main gears. I repaired it for him but in the process he wanted me
to switch it to a trigear. Obviously opposite to what you want to do. Yes you
just move the gear attach fittings to the front

A suggest practice for warming epoxy is set your bottle in a pan of hot water.
I have heated mixed resin and hardener in the microwave before. That makes the
mixture more runny/less viscous for a few minutes but makes it set up faster
