This might be old news but I just spotted a KR2 on ebay. I'm not affiliated
with the seller in any way.

I went to the EAA class on "buying a used experimental" where alot of
this stuff was discussed.
The idea is that since experimentals are becoming so common, that these
issues of reselling need to be brought out for discussion.
Basicaly I came away understanding:
The plane must be amature built
Just saw that this went for about $460... what a deal someone got.

The question is; would this qualify for the 51% rule? Or if your considering
purchasing something like this, how do you know if it qualifies?

I had a look at that KR2, and it looks pretty nice, one pic of the plane
made me wonder.
It showed an engine run being done inside a hangar. Is that common
practice in US? It would cause appoplexy in UK, what would happen if the
thing caught fire ? what about exhaust fumes etc.

If anyone is interested there's a KR2 listed on eBay at $7000 right now and
the reserve has been met. It's located in Morris, Illinois. Looks like it's
ready to fly.

The KR on ebay is mine. I've been debating whether or not I should sell it but
it just seems to be sitting in the hanger now that I bought a cherokee 140 and
to be honest I'm a little nervous to test fly it. I've never been in a KR
before and I wanted to get to MVN this year just for that

Everybody who wants to place a bid: good luck for you. And fly safe.

I too saw the KR2 on ebay and am very interested in the plane. I talked with
the current owner and it appears to have had a nose gear collapse, but the
damage is minimal. It had its last annual in 10/92 so it hasn't been flown in
quite awhile. The current owner has had it for about a year and
I did not hook up with the seller Tuesday. The message I posted came
from the conversation I had with the seller. He stated he traded one
vehicle for another and thus came by the KR2. He is an Ultralight pilot
according to his son.
The KR2 was built in Eugene, Oregon by a man named "Gattis."

I made an appointment to see it tomorrow morning. I'll take photos and
report back to the group with what I find. From what I've heard, the
nose gear folded, busted the prop and hasn't been airborne since.

William,
You obviously have not done your research, either. The engine has 675TT on a
1000hour TBO, so its worth less than half a new engine. The airframe has the
old and unreliable original retracts, which will surely need the lock mechanism
updated or replaced. The add it self says the paint
