Joe,
I always advised my customers to get a valve job done with new stainless
valves even on a new car.
The issue is that OEM VW valves were made in two pieces, the head and stem
were electron beam welded and machined to final shape.
I use Manley stainless valves. They are one piece and
Stainless valves are nice, but I will bet that the problem was not the valve.

Stainless steel exaust valves?
I will look into getting some for my plane. Is "seating" the stainless steel
valves the same as other valves?

Hi guys,
I came across a link of a guy in South Africa that built a high performance
engine for drag strip purposes out of a VW type 4. I know we dont get close to
those kinds of rpm, but I was wandering if the valve setup might be a good
idea. Check this out.
