Type 1 has the exhaust ports toward the prop on the front cylinders and
toward the rear on the rear cylinders.
Type 4 has the exhaust ports on the bottom side of all four cylinders.

It's a Type 1, almost certainly, and is probably an "1835". I'm pretty sure

Hello group,
I have a vw engine 1833 with turbo. How do I find out if it is type 1 or type 4.
It was built by hapi in 1979 for a kr2 I now own. I also have the engine log
book but it does not state which engine type.
