Happened to me on Dapper today after installing libqt4-debug followed by
the sound of me audibly crapping myself. Luckily removing the
libqt4-debug package fixes it so I can finish my work. Any chance of
making the 2 packages compatible?

Seanlynch's comment is dead on. This is a needless hurdle for modem users and
it has been around since at least kubuntu 5.04.
There is an easy way to ensure it never happens again: keep a machine around
with a dial-up modem and install new kubuntu versions on it. Until this

The grub menu isn't shown unless you press ESC to access it, and
changing those colours to match the Ubuntu colours is, as far as I know,
not possible without switching the display into framebuffer mode. We
tried doing this, but it had significant other problems so it was

I wasn't able to install a printer either but I figured that it was
because I never got root privileges. Now you say that you can't install
a printer even though you got the red border... depending on whether or
not you actually obtained root privileges, that would be a bug too.

First, either my aguest account was broken or it got corrupted by the
kdesu-experiments, anyways, now I can't even log in normally from kdm, but
that's a different story.
Now I set up two new and clean users test and test2, let's call the
admin-user user1.
