Same problem on my machine. When I try to type the password at the first
login the input box gets filled with asterisks. The only way to fix it
is to switch to tty1 and restart kdm. The same machine has no problems
with dapper.

I have tried after a dist-upgrade today. The icons are still missing using the
default konqueror profile. If you make a custom filemanagement profile, as
described in my prevoius post, the icons will appear.
But this is indeed a usability bug.

It seems that in the latest package versions the Midnight Commander profile
has been removed. Don't know if this is a bug or a feature...

konqueror configuration.
I was able to make them appear in the following way: open System Settings and
choose Panel, then, on the Menus tab check the Konqueror profiles box and
