The Folk Museum in Oslo has a fine collection of the gold and silver lace on
Norwegian Folk costumes. I thought the lighting was good enough and the
costumes close enough that I was able to copy the patterns in a notebook.

hail from Retournac, France. Susan Lambiris has agreed to post some pictures
of a similar salamander and a hedgehog that I took there on the arachne
website since I am a mechanical dolt.

This technique looks also like the sort of lace made in Italy all
through the 20C, for assembly into furnishing laces or for sale on
their own to the tourist trade. Figural laces were especially popular
take-home items.
