had just cancelled the class when one lady said she wanted to take it, so I
un-cancelled it. It's a start!

Hi All, I'm a bit late on this one and I am going with what books would you
take if you were marooned on a desert island. That seems to mean that I
would have LOTS of time for lacemaking .
Anyway I would take "Needlelace - Designs and Techniques Classic and
Contemporary" by Catherine Barley. Lo

These are lovely, Sof. I purchased a lace umbrella (Battenburg) in St.
Lucia (West Indies) last month while on a cruise, only to leave it in
the taxi on the way to the airport in Ft. Lauderdale. I'd been
thinking about ordering a replacement from among some I found on the

Hi Devon,
This question about Broomstick lace immediately sent me to Dillmont's
Encyclopedia of Needlework.

lot of room for storag
In 2007 I bought very large cones of silk thread at the Whitchurch
Silk Mill in Whitchurch, Hampshire. This is a working museum and
very interesting to visit. The gift shop sells very small amounts of
thread, but if you ask, they'll rummage through the mill and find
some cones which they'
The 2/70 Japanese knitting silk from Uppingham Yarns is one that I use a
lot for Milanese. It is similar to the Madeira 80, Finca 80 or 100, Gassed
Cotton 80 range of cotton threads in the way it works and the number of pairs
that are needed. I have probably about 1/3rd to 1/2 the colours so f
