Dear Sr. Claire,
I don't see any copyright issues here at all. You are taking inspiration from
the painting(s) and creating a totally different work or 'art'.
Do keep us up to date on your progress! And good luck to you.
You do have to be careful here. The problem lies in the fact that

Landing on web site below, bobbin lace is tatting with bobbins! I think
they tried to cover all country's cultures here.
It's an interesting article so have a look.
I think the article was written in Russian first, and then translated using a

You can tell it was written in another language by the awkward turn of phrase
which is all over.

Interesting in the mention of Russian lace (Vologda just mentioned), I am
reading the book: The Last Days of the Romanovs: Tragedy at Ekaterinburg by
Helen Rappaport and of note,
What I find interesting about this is the fact that the mix-up occurs in
a translation of a foreign language. We've all encountered people who
insist that what we're doing is tatting! For all we know, there was a

I have started writing the article on restoration of lace bobbins, and have
started with the spangle, being the most frequent restoration that is
undertaken.
Most historical beads are produced by modern bead makers, but I do not know if

I just acquired an antique bolster pillow, Italian style. A friend referred me
to her friend who wanted to sell a 'bobbin'. I was very surprised when the
picture of the 'bobbin' was a bolster pillow with bobbins hanging on it. Plus
some embroidery tools.

While eating dinner in Mexico with some of the local people, I mentioned I was
able to buy cactus leaves in the local supermarket but had no idea what they
tasted like. They then ordered a couple of different appetizers using cactus.
One was grilled, cut in slices about 2 inches wide, and
It is news to me that one can eat cactus leaves!! The cactus is indigenous
to Northern America so it is no wonder that somebody tried eating them
sometime or other. We have cacti here that have been classified as a weed
and the cochineal insect was imported to destroy the cacti. The fruit of
