[lace] idrija thread

2015-08-19 Thread Marji Sakievich
I just purchased some Idrija thread.  The white spool says No 30 on it.  I also obtained some colors and they also say No 30.  What would be the wraps for that?  Anyone know?  and I also purchased some metallic Idrija thread.  Any idea what the wraps are for it?  I have checked out Brenda's

So I finished a bloemwork piece yesterday and having never used linen before I'm not sure if I should do anything to it before taking it off the pillow. As I live in a desert climate linen dries out too much. In fact I will probably not do it again as the threads break a lot! Any thoughts wo

So, last year I invited a new member of our church, she had just moved in, to learn about lace.  She was hooked.  She invited her sister-in-law, who is learning too and now she, the sister-in-law, has invited a neighbor.  I think many times our work and friendliness is the greatest promoter of this

Another suggestion is to never put the same amount of thread on each bobbin so you don't run out at the same time.  This goes for larger projects but is a good rule of thumb. From: David C COLLYER To: Ilse Depaepe ; Sue Cc: Arachne Sent: Friday, September 16,

I don't know if this has been suggested but our teacher in a lace class today suggested using double sided tape to help hold the metallic threads in place. She said that the bobbins for that would need to be designated for that use and you could easily replace the tape when it's not tacky anymo

I don't know much about using wire but I was making a flower yesterday that has to be gathered after laced. I decided to use wire in one area to stiffen it and it turned out pretty nice. The other threads were DMC 40. I used 34 gauge wire for this. It is the first flower in "Flower Fantasy
